Curriculum Guide
Help your child choose the courses that will maximize their college potential. Columbus City Schools has made a Curriculum Guide listing the courses each student should take to stay on track.
The MIMIMUM coursework requirement for graduation from a CCS high school are:
- 4 units of English
- 3 units of Mathematics
- 3 units of Social Sciences (i.e. history & government)
- 3 units of Lab Science
- 2 units of the SAME Foreign Language
- 3 Elective units
- 1 unit of Technology
- 1 unit of Internship (120 hours)
- 1/2 unit each of Phys Ed. & Health
Remember, these are the minimum
requirements. Anything above these will only enhance your preparation
and opportunities after graduation. Talk to your guidance counselor
about pursuing these opportunities: - Honors courses
- Advanced Placement courses
- Post-Secondary Education Options (for college credit in High School)
- Early College Programs
The RECOMMENDED coursework for general college admission are:
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of Math
- 3 years of Social Studies
- 3 years of a Lab Science
- 2 years of the SAME Foreign Language
- 1 unit of a Fine Art
- 1 Elective unit
